MiHome's Story

Footprint

Art has been with her since she was borned. Her grandpa is an oil painter. Comics and Animes are part of Japanese culture. When she was in primary school she already drew lots of comic art and there was a boy who drew dinosaurs in very detail in her class and a girl who drew girls like a famous comic artist. She believes unconsciously she was motivated with these people. When she was in secondary school several girls drew comic art and some of them built stories or goods and sold them as amature. It was very impressive and she knew that amature can even sell their art. During secondary school she knew Norman Rockwell however oil painting is not major in Japan so she didn't consider oil painting. Once she wanted to be a comic artist and she notified that she doesn't like to build stories. She just wants to draw. She attempted to draw characters and digital art but it didn't motivate her either. She moved to Toronto when she was 19 and was losing her passion for art. The life there was her biggest turning point for her art life. She knew people's lives are diverse and her eyes opened. When she came back from Toronto, she started to learn the basics of art techniques and different types of art. However art is not big except comic art in Japan and she wanted to learn real art life in the world that is not something she can learn from schools, libraries or life in her motherland and she moved to Europe. She took multiple art classes and enhanced her art skill especially experiences a lot in Denmark as an artist however she didn't want to be AN artist and she struggled to find her art style. This was her second turning point. She struggled a lot and she found it through her travel and her beloved grandparents.

Roots

Roots of her artstyle One of her roots in art is definitely from her grandfather who was an oil painter. He had multiple skills and he built his own studio and she loves his art studio. He also paints his art on big canvases. It was magic for her when the canvas is coloured and the abstract line got visualized day by day and eventually it viewed a part of the world like pictures next to his paintings. She likes the smell of oil paintings. It reminds him and her childhood with him every time.
Second thing is Japanese Manga culture. She often reads love stories and most of the time pictures are very beautiful for girl's comics. Thin lines and lots of patterns with white and black and it touched her emotions with stories. She never feels the same when she just reads novels.
Third thing Norman Rockwell. He is an oil painter in NY. She saw a documentary about him and was impressed by his way of creating his art. She got many books about him and learned how he created his art. She realized the texture of oil painting is her favorite.
Fourth thing: Boys comics such as adventures and battles. One of her friends in primary brought her a boys comic. It brought her big adventures and a different world that I could never imagine.
Fifth thing is from her beloved grandmother. MeHome believes her grandma was a witch. Her grandma knew everything. Roots of MeHome's pattern came from her memories with her grandma and Japanese culture with them.
Sixth thing is actual adventure experience. Since she knew how adventures are exciting, she became addicted to traveling. Artwork is her most comfortable way to express herself.
